Death of man in April declared homicide

The death of a man in April has been ruled a homicide by the Chief Medical Examiner.

According to police, Charles Wilbert Lancaster, 59, and another man were found shot in the 100 block of Ridge Road, SE. Both men were taken to the hospital but Lancaster, who had been shot in the back, died from his injuries a day after he was admitted, on April 17.

According to a police report detailing the incident, police believe a suspect or suspects drove away from the scene, driving a black car. The car headed West on Ridge Road, according to the report, but there have been no arrests made in the case.

On June 15, the medical examiner examined Lancaster’s body and ruled that complications from a gunshot wound to the back caused his death, and ruled the case a homicide.
